After declaring leprosy being eliminated, the health department has reached a state of fatigue in terms of resource allocation. Bringing the prevalence of leprosy to a  level below 1 per thousand of population in India still leaves millions of active cases propagating the disease. Bringing active case detection efforts to a stop and tagging leprosy eradication program into other health programs have diluted the mission to an extent that leprologists nationwide have witnessed a distinct increasing trend in the incidence of the disease.
